We all know how important hydration is to our bodies. After all our bodies are 70% made up of water.
It goes without saying that bullet number 1 for this post will have to be:
- Keep hydrated. Drink lots of water. For a great way to keep track of your filtered water consumption check out this bottle.
- Now, time for my present addiction: Green smoothies! The ultimate energy booster! And if you think it’s all about spinach, you are lacking some imagination. My Green Smoothie Bible has been one of the best books I’ve bought in healthy habits. You can have the quickest and most nutritious breakfast or afternoon “snack” in the blink of an eye. If you get hooked, as I am, you will even want to buy the best blender in the market. But as much as I would like a Vitamix or a Blendtec, I’m afraid I’ll have to stick to what I could afford this time.
- Teas, teas and more HERBAL teas. Hot or iced, teas are a fabulous way to either energize or calm your mind. Try Green tea or Redbush for the start of the day; Mint, Hibiscus, Ginger, Fennel or Aniseed after a heavy meal to aid digestion; Try a spoonful of lavender or chamomile flowers for a relaxing time. If you do drink coffee, do not drink with guilt, try adding a couple of cardamom pods to your brewing coffee. Cardamom counteracts some of the bad effects of caffeine, including the acidity so feared early in the morning!
- Make herbal teas a part of your everyday life and make it easier for your children to choose better drinks. How about using herbal teas for your home-made squash, iced tea or herbal ice lollies to add the fun element children crave for.
